Two cars that were part of the convoys of Tamil Nadu Minister SP Velumani and Speaker P Dhanapal met with an accident on Tuesday while the two were on their way to attend PM Narendra Modi’s rally on Tuesday at Surianallur toll gate in Dharapuram.
According to reports, two cars part of the security convoys of the two leaders met with an accident. Both the Minister and the Speaker have escaped unhurt. Some reports claim they have suffered some injuries.
Visuals from the incident site showed the two cars collided with a great impact. The windshield of the car that belonged to Speaker had developed a large crack and the front bumper also suffered substantial damage. A crane had to be called in to pull the Speaker’s car. Another visual showed that the front and the rear bumper of the Minister's car was severely damaged as well. The front bumper as well as some parts of the car were seen lying on the road.
The convoys of the Minister and Speaker collided into each other while the cars were crossing Kuppanna Kovil at Dharapuram. Two security personnel sustained minor injuries. It is not clear yet how the accident took place.
The elections to the 234-seat Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly will be held on April 6. The results will be out on May 2 when the counting of votes will take place.
