19-year-old Srishti Goswami from Uttarakhand's Haridwar has become the Chief Minister of the state today, 24th January, on the occasion of National Girl Child Day. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat approved the decision to make her a one-day CM.
Goswami, a student of BSc in Agriculture from BSM PG College, Roorkee comes from Daulatpur village situated in Bahadurabad block of Haridwar. Her father Praveen Puri runs a grocery shop in Daulatpur, while her mother Sudha Goswami is a homemaker.
She has been serving as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand's Bal Vidhan Sabha since 2018. Officers of 12 departments gave their presentations on departmental plans. She attended an official meeting today to review various schemes run by the state government.
"I wholeheartedly thank CM Trivendra Singh Rawat for allowing me to become CM of Uttarakhand for one day. On January 24, the National Girl Child Day, officials from various departments will make five-minute-long presentations before me. I will give them suggestions, particularly on the issues related to girl-child safety," said Goswami. She also said that she would also want to give her inputs to the government on the agriculture sector, which supports the livelihood of more than 65% of the state’s population.
Darshan Singh Rawat, the media coordinator of CM Rawat, said, "The move will inspire the girls of the state and the country to dream big and never feel inferior to boys. They are equal to boys and can achieve their dreams with hard work and determination."
