Wistron's iPhone manufacturing unit in Kolar was vandalised by some employees at around 6:30 am on Saturday, during the shift change.
The employees were angry over non-payment of their salaries, which was reportedly being lingered on for four months. The employees turned violent and started raising slogans against the management. They also pelted stones at the office, broke glasses and other office equipment, and set fire to a company name board and two vehicles.
The company has revealed that it suffered a loss of Rs 440 crore as thousands of iPhones were looted.
The police said that 156 arrests have been made for unlawful assembly, rioting with deadly weapons, voluntarily causing hurt, trespass, dacoity and other offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
