The Centre is getting ready for the roll out of COVID-19 vaccine across the country, with 8 districts in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Punjab all set to initiate a two-day dry run for vaccine administration next week.
"The two-day activity planned on Dec 28 and 29, will include necessary data entries, vaccine receipt and allocation, deployment of team members, mock drill of session sites with test beneficiaries, reporting and evening meeting, testing for cold storage and transportation arrangements for the vaccine, management of crowds at the session sites with proper physical distancing," said the Ministry.
An important focus will be on the management of any possible adverse events after vaccination.
A multi-level governance mechanism has been established across all States and UTs to supervise and assist vaccine delivery. Specific training modules have been drafted for all involved in the implementation process at different levels.
As per current estimates, the Centre will be using 29,000 cold chain points, 240 walk-in coolers, 70 walk-in freezers, 45,000 ice-lined refrigerators, 41, 000 deep freezers, and 300 solar refrigerators across the country for storage and delivery of vaccines.
