Britain has detected another new strain of the coronavirus with two infected cases. Both of them had travelled from South Africa in the past few weeks.
South Africa's health department said last week that a new genetic mutation of the virus had been found and might be responsible for a recent surge in infections there.
Britain had already announced of detecting a new mutated coronavirus strain, a few days ago which was 70% more transmissible.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that the latest new variant appears to have mutated further and is more infectious than the one recently discovered.
Close contacts of those with the new variant were being quarantined and all those who had been in South Africa in the last fortnight also needed to quarantine, he said .
Britain has also imposed immediate restrictions on travel from South Africa.
